The Rotary Club of Houston and the Rotary St. Nicholas Committee are proud to announce that the Salvation Army Greater Houston Area Commander, Major Chris Flanagan, will address the Rotary Club of Houston luncheon on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at the Houston City Club.
At our luncheon we will officially “kick-off” the Rotary Club of Houston St. Nicholas committee participation. This will include our St. Nicholas Committee fundraiser, The Non-Event Event!
The 2014-2015 year marks the 125th Anniversary of The Salvation Army’s ministry in Texas and in Houston. Today, The Salvation Army can be found serving the community needs through two social services offices, two senior affordable housing apartment complexes, three homeless shelters, four rehabilitation centers, four emergency disaster mobile feeding units, five Salvation Army Boys & Girls Clubs, six community centers, 6 family stores and seven Corps (worship services).
Aside from the year-round services offered through the 17 different facilities and locations in our area, The Salvation Army also offers the following annual events: “Youth of the Year” scholarship awards, Reflection on Style Luncheon and Fashion Show, Annual Luncheon and the Angel Tree Christmas Assistance program.
In the Houston community since 1889, a United Way of Greater Houston agency, The Salvation Army Greater Houston Area Command serves Harris, Montgomery and Fort Bend Counties through youth programs, shelter, disaster relief, counseling, senior programs and rehabilitation.
