Tom Herman was named head football coach at the University of Houston on Dec. 16, 2014, just one week after being named the nation's top assistant coach, the Frank Broyles Award winner, when he was at Ohio State University.
 
In just his first season as head coach of the University of Houston, Tom became only the fourth head coach in NCAA history with at least 13 wins in a rookie season, and just the fifth head coach in NCAA history to win the first 10 games of his career.
 
He was named the FWAA First-Year Coach of the Year and The American's Co-Coach of the Year as a league-best 12 of his players received postseason honors from conference.
 
Coach Herman was born in Cincinnati and raised in Simi Valley, California. He played collegiately at California Lutheran, graduating in 1997 with a degree in business administration. He received a master's in education from the University of Texas in 2000.
