DESCRIPTION:  Welcome to Rotary District 5890\, composed of 62 clubs surro
 unding and across the greater Houston Area. The Rotarian's in our District
  truly exemplify Rotary's motto of "Service above Self" with projects loca
 lly as well as all around the world. In Rotary's largest project\, we are 
 working diligently to eradicate POLIO from the world and District 5890 is 
 working hard to aid in that effort.   Rotary also has 6 other areas of fo
 cus\; 1) Peace and Conflict resolution\, 2) Clean water for all\, 3) Liter
 acy\, 4) Health\, 5) Growing local economies\, and 6) saving mothers and c
 hildren. Rotary has something for nearly everyone's passion.   I encourag
 e you to explore this website for local events and service opportunities\,
  as well as information about District 5890. We have a variety of clubs th
 at meet for breakfast\, lunch\, happy hour\, and dinner. We even have an e
 -Club for those who's work prevents them from attending regularly schedule
 d weekly meetings. If you are interested\, there is a place for you in Rot
 ary.    The Rotary International theme this year is "Be A GIFT TO THE WOR
 LD". As Rotarians we choose to get up and make the world a better place\, 
 something more than what we received. AND we have Fun and Fellowship doing
  it together. Come join us in District 5890. We have only 1 chance at our 
 lives. Today will not come again. This is our time. Let us grasp it. Join 
 us and "Be A Gift to the World". Join us in District 5890 as we have fun t
 his year and give the gifts of our time\, talent & knowledge to improve
