The Rotary Club of Houston will not meet at the HESS Club this week.  Instead, we will gather for our quarterly “Lunch with a Purpose” on Thursday, May 10, 2018, from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, to assist Career Recovery and Resources, Inc., located at 2525 San Jacinto St., Houston, TX 77002

Career Recovery and Resources (“CRR”)—founded in 1945—is a non-profit, multi-service organization that provides assistance and counseling to individuals who often face a myriad of employment obstacles.  To facilitate this important service mission, CRR offers four critical core programs that focus on the following areas: (1) Employment and Career Development; (2) Veteran & Housing Assistance; (3) Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services; and (4) Alternative Substance Abuse Treatment.  At CRR, individuals are given “a hand up rather than a hand out.”

As Rotarians, we will donate men’s and women’s professional clothing that is gently used and ready to wear.  The apparel will empower those in need of our service with confidence and self-esteem necessary to obtain future employment.  Therefore, we are asking everyone to bring clothing that is “Pressed for Progress”—items that are laundered, pressed and ready for wear at a job interview.

The Club will provide a delicious boxed meal for all who attend this “Lunch with a Purpose.”  Likewise, the staff at CRR will present an informative program to our members and guests.  Please register online so we may plan accordingly.   I look forward to seeing you at this special event.   Together—we will do what Rotarians do best—“Make a Difference in the Lives of Others.”
