Dr. Robert Sloan began his term as the third President of HBU on Sept. 1, 2006.  Under his leadership the university has achieved unprecedented growth in programs, facilities, and enrollment.
 
Dr. Sloan came to HBU from Baylor University, where he served as President and Chancellor from 1995 to 2006.  Previously, he was a faculty member at Baylor U., Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Hardin Simmons U.  He also served as a pastor at more than 20 churches in Texas and Oklahoma.  Sloan has written three books and has published extensively during his career.
 
Dr. Sloan graduated from Baylor U. in 1970, earned a Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1973, and a Doktor der Theologie insignia from the U. of Basel, Switzerland in 1978.
 
He is a native Texan, having been born in Coleman and raised in Abilene.  He and his wife have seven children and five grandchildren.
