Asher Price, a Capitol bureau reporter for the Austin American-Statesman, grew up in New York City and has lived in Texas 15 years. He loves barbecue and football. Asher studied English at Yale and has graduate degrees from Oxford and Columbia in public policy and journalism.
 
Asher Price writes about energy, the environment and state politics for the Austin American-Statesman. Three times the Society of Environmental Journalists has named him a finalist for its beat reporter of the year award.
He is the author of Year of the Dunk, a memoir about basketball, cancer and the frontiers of human potential, and co-author of The Great Texas Wind Rush, the backstory about how the oil-and-gas state became the country's top producer of wind power.

Dave Barron covered the The Houston Oilers and saw, firsthand, the  Bum Phillips, Dan Pastorini, Earl Campbell era as well as the last hurrah season in Houston's Astrodome-1993, featuring, Jack Pardee, Buddy Ryan, Kevin Gilbride, Warren Moon, Bruce Matthews.  And, then, the Houston Oilers left town for Tennessee...
